Returning to school.

Will children be up to grade level if they return to school

Will children be up to grade level if they return to school?

When children begin homeschooling they generally have to go back to a lower grade to fill in the gaps. Regardless most children who have homeschooled for a year or more using our material are found to be ahead of their peers if they return to school.

Children who begin with the phonics programme at five years old can appear to be behind their peers for the six to twelve months since they are learning sounds and their peers are learning sight words. However after this time it is obvious the children who have learnt phonics are miles ahead. This is because homeschooled children can sound words they do not know and have learnt rules to help them spell. A child who has completed a phonics programme can always read and spell better than a child who has learnt sight words.
